JR Central on Saturday unveiled work at a station being built in Sagamihara City. Located on the south side of Hashimoto Station, it is the only station planned for the maglev train line in the prefecture.
The station will be approximately 30 meters below ground, around 680 meters long, and up to about 50 meters wide.
JR Central opened to the public the third basement level, which houses platforms and other structures.
The company initially planned to complete construction by March 2027. But it later announced the work would be delayed by around three years, citing factors such as the time required for excavation work. It now aims to complete the construction by around the spring of 2030.
