Source: https://pragativadi.com/ashwini-vaishna ... at-trains/ Accessed 2022-05-22During his visit, Railway Minister Vaishnaw applauded the efforts of “Avishkar Hyperloop”, a passionate student led team at IIT Madras, committed to changing the future of mobility in India by developing scalable Hyperloop technologies. Hyperloop is a new innovative mode of transport which disrupts the paradigm of conventional transport where speed and comfort are carbon-heavy. It is a transportation solution for a sustainable, fast and connected future with a minimal carbon footprint. Concept is based on levitating pods travelling at near sonic speeds in vacuum tubes built between cities. A maglev in vacuum tube.
Indian Railways has joined hands with IIT Madras to indigenously develop Hyperloop technology based transportation system which runs faster than bullet trains, and has considerably low operating cost. Indian Railways will extend financial support of Rs. 8.34 cr to IIT Madras for this project.

The Future of Maglev Transportation in Urban Areas.
I believe that maglev technology has the potential to revolutionize urban transportation, making it faster and more efficient than traditional systems. However, as cities grow and infrastructure ages, can we truly justify the investment in maglev systems when many existing public transport networks are underfunded and in need of repair? What if the focus shifted from building new maglev lines to enhancing the efficiency of current transit options?

On Monday, IIT Madras partnered with the Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, to host Parivahan 2.0 – Global Hyperloop Summit, aimed at advancing high-speed, sustainable transport in India.
Bringing together stakeholders from government, ports, railways, logistics, industry, and academia, the summit featured a key agreement between TuTr Hyperloop and Larsen & Toubro to strengthen industry participation in Hyperloop technology development. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted Deendayal Port’s progress with TuTr Hyperloop’s LIM technology demonstrator as “[Translated quote] a historic step in taking this technology from the laboratory to the port, and from technology demonstration towards commercialisation,” urging progress toward a full-scale cargo Hyperloop system under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Deendayal Port Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh announced GHC 2027, a global platform for student and researcher innovation, while IIT Madras Director Prof. V. Kamakoti emphasized the technology’s interdisciplinary roots and plans for Hyperloop clubs and skill-development courses across Indian IITs.
