Iida City reported on June 15 to the city council’s special committee on linear maglev promotion that JR Central had considered using “soil requiring countermeasures” for embankment work at the Iida maintenance base.

The maintenance base is being developed near the tentatively named Nagano Prefecture Station of the Chuo Shinkansen maglev line in Iida City.

The plan to use the soil has been dropped because the groundwater level at the site is high.
